Sertoma

Sertoma's mission is to improve the quality of life for those at risk or impacted by hearing loss through education and support. The Hearing Aid Project (HAP) is dedicated to helping individuals with hearing loss by providing them with hearing aids that would otherwise be discarded. Through the generous contributions of donors and the expertise of audiology partners, they are able to offer refurbished hearing aids, accessories, and select services to individuals with moderate to severe hearing loss. A program of Sertoma International and Hearing Charities of America, HAP addresses the growing demand for hearing aids by providing direct assistance to qualifying adults across the U.S. They are proud to work with the Department of Hearing & Speech, University of Kansas Medical Center to house the program’s official hearing aid bank. Under the direction of faculty, doctoral students maintain an inventory of hearing aids from the six major manufacturers that HAP distributes through its network of audiologists and hearing health professionals.
